The City of Henderson held an information session on Thursday, Jan. 22, regarding food trucks within Henderson. This ordinance amends title 9 of the Henderson Municipal Code with the addition of chapter 6 entitled, “Mobile Food Vendors.”
Due to an influx of food vendors within Henderson, the city has instituted several rules to keep track of and to ensure the success of local vendors. There will be a permit requirement for vendors looking to sell within Henderson. This will include an inspection of licensure and health and safety inspections for each applicant. Vendors can receive and deposit their applications at City Hall, where they will be reviewed and approved if applicants have fulfilled the requirements listed in the new ordinance. Vendors will also have to obtain permission from the landowner of the property that they are selling. Mayor Terry Bell encourages vendors to “contact those whose land you may be selling on as soon as possible” in order to make the permit process smoother for all involved. These permits last annually with a fee of $100. This ordinance will go into effect on Feb 1. For more information, contact the city at 989-4628.
