After a two-week layoff caused by ice and snow that shut down schools, the Chester County Eaglettes returned to action Saturday night but fell to Hardin County, 54–26.
The Eaglettes showed early hustle despite the extended break, trailing just 9–6 at the end of the first quarter. However, Hardin County found its rhythm in the second quarter and created separation behind a strong perimeter shooting performance.
Hardin County connected on five three-pointers in the second quarter alone, outscoring Chester County 19–3 to take a 28–9 lead into halftime. The hot shooting continued throughout the night, as Hardin County finished with 10 three-pointers overall.
Chester County continued to battle in the second half, but consistent scoring proved difficult. Hardin County extended its lead to 41–19 after three quarters and closed out the game with a solid fourth quarter to secure the 54–26 win.
Savannah Williams led the Eaglettes with nine points, knocking down three 3-pointers. Kloe Taylor followed with 8 points. Scoring in the paint was challenging for Chester County, due to the presence of Hardin County’s Avery Warren, whose size and defensive impact limited opportunities around the basket and altered shots throughout the night.
Chester County was scheduled to return home Tuesday night for its final home game of the season against Lexington. The Eaglettes then travel to North Side on Thursday, where they earned their only win of the season, before closing out the week with a road trip to South Side on Saturday.
