While there are still homes in the Silerton area that use well water, most of Silerton gets its water from Selmer Utility Division (SUD). SUD has been conducting a survey of Silerton households. This survey has been prompted by last year’s deep freeze and resultant water line breaks and water outages that were experienced then. They are also looking into some areas on Firetower Rd. that might be having low water pressure problems. Tip: If you want to read your water meter and do not see numbers on the mini-screen, shine a flashlight on it and that should activate the display. Wanda King, wife of Roger King, is in Vanderbilt with some health issues. Prayers are requested.

Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a great week! Well, winter is back. We are in the second winter of the 12 Seasons of Tennessee! Spring is fast approaching but not fast enough for me; also, the time change will be here before we know it. Time is flying! Okay, folks, Valentine’s Day is on Friday, Feb. 14. Do not let it slip up on you. Guys, get those boxes of chocolates, roses, cards, strawberries or whatever you know she prefers. Gals, get the cards ready or maybe cook his favorite meal. This is the holiday of love, so let’s show the ones we love how much we appreciate them! Chester County schools are out on Friday for parent/teacher conference and on Monday for President’s Day. President’s Day is a holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February that honors all those who served as president of the United States. At the federal level, it is officially known as Washington’s Birthday and honors Founding Father George Washington who served as the first U.S. president from 1789 to 1797. Depending on the specific state, they may celebrate Washington alone or also celebrate Abraham Lincoln and/or Thomas Jefferson (Wikipedia.com). Happy birthday wishes go to Michael Frank on Feb. 14, Tony Murphy on Feb. 18 and Jackie Hutcherson and Lynn Canaday on Feb. 20. We hope you all enjoy your special day! Please pray for the family of Marty Rowland and continue prayers for Harold and Janice Maness, Robert and Linda Johnson, Robert Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Jeremy Crowell, Doyle and Shirley Bishop, Karl Starnes, Janice Massengill Strickland, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Tom Harwell, Glenn Butts, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Jack Hampton, Mike Finley, all who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other. To rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062, or if you have news, call me at 608-3058. Have a blessed week everyone!

We are back to the weather constantly changing between cold and hot, but hopefully, it will not be too bad until we truly get to SPRING. I feel like most of us look forward to seeing the beautiful flowers, green grass and sunshine. Our local governmental meetings need more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county, come out to commission meetings and show your interest or concerns. Everyone should be mindful of what is going on in our county and care enough to help make a difference. Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to John Moore and Randy Cooper on Feb. 13, Becky Rowsey on Feb. 16, Kristy Hatchcock, Alice Cook and myself on Feb. 17 and Anthony Cooper and Judy Greenslade on Feb. 19.
We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining, and they are due for this current year. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and your friends. Please be in prayer for our local and federal government, law enforcement, school staff and teachers and the listed individuals of Matthew Robinson, Dobber Dyer, Brenda Hannah, Donna Doyle, Mike Lott, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Quinten Johnson, Jerry Fletcher, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Dean Jones, Royce Hunter, Jeanette Bolton, Marty Rowland and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857. As always, until next time, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Saturday was a very nice day with a temperature of around 70 degrees. The forecast for the next 10 days suggests daytime temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s, and nighttime temperatures will mostly be in the 30’s and 40’s. Sunday was dreary with gray skies. It rained off and on. There are several days ahead with rain expected. Daylight Savings Time begins March 9. Spring break for our schools begins on March 24 through March 28, and March 31 is an additional day for students due to it being a staff development day. Looking forward to spring.
It was very sad to hear of the loss of Marty Rowland. Our son’s funeral was in 1997 at “Casey’s,” now Shackleford. It was very comforting and personalized with Marty and Mr. Fentress Casey. We have had a lot of funerals for relatives here. Changes come and go, and we adjust to it. If nothing changes, this will be our final journey before going “home.” Prayers for family and friends during this time of loss. Marty is “home” now. Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. We attended the Finger Fire Department fish fry/barbecue chicken dinner Saturday afternoon with some friends, and as usual, they did not disappoint. The food was delicious and plentiful. There was a tremendous turnout. The weather was just right also. I could not imagine how to calculate how much to cook for that many people. Keep up the great work! Thanks for your service to the community! We, like many others, watched the Superbowl. I was glad the Eagles won! The halftime show was for young people. I love music and understand some rap. I did recognize the American flag portrayed by the dancers but not much more than that. Kendrick Lamar did a very good job, and I enjoyed SZA. She has great vocals and is pretty.
Happy birthday DeWitt Swayne, 2-12; Meghan Cooper, 2-14; and Donna Bishop, 2-15.
Happy anniversary to Melinda and John Miller, 2-17. Prayer requests for Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Judy Bray, Georgia Burkeen, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Tim Cupples, Myra Davis, Joie Freeman, Joey Harris, LaDawn Hayes, Danny Hodges, Brenda Hopper, Kristen Hurley, Alvin and Eva Jones, Sue Lewis, Mark Lenow, Doris McKinney, Martha Mainord, Jeff Mays, Joyce Wade, Deana Morris, Darryl Newsom, Jim Newsom and Sue Newsom, Julia Parchman, James Parrish, Trudy Powers, Pam Priddy, Ridge Ray, Todd Rencher, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Mollie Russell, Brenda Seaton, Dyke Sells, Cathy Sisson, Glen Swafford, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, Tony Tucker, Cammi Walls, Gus Willis, Bill Wood, Charles and Natalie Wray, Mike Young and the families of Dean Jones, Jeanette Bolton and Marty Rowland. Also, remember our first responders, military, firefighters and law enforcement officers. “Where There Is Love” by Helen Steiner Rice – “Where there is love the heart is light/Where there is love the day is bright/Where there is love there is a song/To help when things are going wrong/Where there is love there is a smile/To make all things seem more worthwhile/Where there is love there’s quiet peace/A tranquil place where turmoils cease/Love changes darkness into light/And makes the heart take ‘wingless flight’/Oh, blest are they who walk in love/They also walk with God above/And when man walks with God again/There shall be Peace On Earth for men.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.

Hello to my family and friends.  It is a new week and a new day, and it is always a blessing to be with you! This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Well, the Super Bowl was Sunday. It has come and gone. I do not know if your team won or not. I am not a football fan! However, I did like the commercial with Martha Stewart. Martha was breakdancing in the hilarious new Skechers commercial! I loved it! She was really getting down. Snoop Dogg must have taught her those moves!
Friday is Valentine’s Day, a day that has been set aside for us to show how much you love someone. Now, the love that you have for all of the special people in our life should not be shown only on one day; it is an everyday action. The Bible reads in 1 Peter 4:8, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sin.”  This World would be a better place if we all showed more love toward one another.        Mr. T. J. Kirk, thank you for explaining “Why Does Black History Deserve a Month?” It was very interesting and full of facts! I enjoyed reading it, and I do hope others enjoy it as well. I loved your statement at the end of the article! In the end, Black History Month is not just for Black Americans. It is for everyone! I do believe Dr. King’s wife, Mrs. Coretta Scott King, had a similar quote. Thank you, Mr. Kirk, for sharing! Do not forget about the Eighth Annual Black History Program this Saturday, Feb. 15, from 2-4 p.m., at the Chester County Senior Center, 247 East Main St., Henderson. There is no cost to attend. This is a free event.  I have never been disappointed in the years I have attended this great event! The program has always been educational, great entertainment and well organized! To the committee, thank you for taking time out to make sure this event is presented every year for the past eight years for the People and the Community of Henderson. The program is not just for the Black/African American community; it is for Chester County. Hope to see you there!
Do not forget that the Cool Springs Baptist Church family will hold their “Sweetest Ball” from 6:30-9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, upstairs in the City Hall. For more information, contact Neicy Welch at 608-7651. Our condolences go to the family of our dear friend Mr. Marty Rowland. It was a shock to me when I heard about our dear friend. We are praying for the family! Whenever I saw Marty, he always had a smile on his face. He will be missed but not forgotten. To the family of Mr. Glynn Flatt, our prayers are with you! One thing we do know is that God does not make mistakes! The Holiday family would like to say, “THANK YOU,” for all of the prayers and flowers we received from family and friends for Apostle Frank Holiday on the loss of his brother and sister. We went to Texas and returned safely! Remember to pray for one another, our children, our teachers and our families, the sick and shut in, our men and women that are serving our country and also the incarcerated. Please remember my dear friend Glen Swafford. He is still in the hospital! Remember to patronize our local businesses here in town. Let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text or call me at 608-6132. I LOVE ALL OF YOU! YOU HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART!
