Hello to everyone! As always, it is good to be here with you another week in a new month and on a new day. I count it a blessing. For this is the day our Lord and Savior has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
To our teachers and children, I hope your first week of school was great and that the rest of the year will be a blessed one. The City of Henderson appreciates all of the staff within our educational system who have helped our schools to be so successful.
It was a great turn out on Sunday for the back-to-school prayer! Let us keep our children in prayer for the protection, safety, obedience and aptitude enhancement for students; the cohesiveness of relationships between student to student, student to teacher, teacher to teacher and teacher to administrators; the increase of attendances by students; and all workers within the educational structure. Remember that prayer does not stop there; we must continually pray and thank the Lord for a great year.
Our condolences to the Howard family and the Jones family. Mrs. Helen Howard was a strong woman that loved her family; she also loved basketball. I can see her now, cheering for the Chester County basketball team. Mrs. Helen Howard at the age of 99 was an example on how to love life and enjoy it. Mrs. Howard was a bus driver for our children. There are so many wonderful memories from down through the years! Our dear friend, Steve Jones, his family and my family grew up together there in Jaybird. When we were children, running and playing, we thought those days would never end! Mrs. Helen and Steve will be missed but not forgotten.
The city would like to wish a happy 49 years of marriage to Jerry and Shirley Wilson. They will celebrate on Aug. 8. A 49th wedding anniversary can symbolize the good fortune of finding a partner and the good blessing that continues through marriage. Some say that the traditional gift for a 49th anniversary is copper, which is associated with healing and living a full life. Mr. Jerry, I know you knew you married a precious jewel when you married Mrs. Shirley 49 years ago! Jerry and Shirley, congratulations! As I always say – remember to keep the honey in the moon! It just gets sweeter and sweeter as the years go by! We LOVE you.
On the birthday list for this month: the city would like to wish Mr. Larry Kelly happy birthday on 8/11. Happy birthday to my nephew Mr. Cliff Brown on 8/18 and my great nephew Mr. Justin Barham on 8/12; he will be 15 years old. Ms. Phyllis Massengill celebrates on 8/13, and Ms. Tapeka Wilson’s birthday is on 8/19. May the Lord bless you with many more to come. If you get a chance, wish them all a Happy Birthday.
Aug. 1 was Voting day. The City of Henderson would like to congratulate all of the candidates that ran. Great Job!
On the prayer list this week – pray for our Unite States of America! We need your prayers and the help from the Lord! Please be in prayer for our local and federal government, the police department, doctors, the sick and the shut-in. Continue to pray for Valerie’s sister, Patty Dotson; she is having some health issues, and pray their mother JoeAnn Cawthon, Glenda Atkins, the Howard family and the Jones family.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call or text me at 608-6132
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Hello everyone! I am bringing bad news to my readers. I will not be doing the news article after this week. I am sorry, but my health issues are getting worse, and I really think someone else can do a better job.
I hope we have a volunteer. If so, please call the Chester County Independent and talk to Taylor.
I was asked to put this in today’s news: Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Anna Nelson will be teaching a Chair Yoga and Tai Chi class on Tuesdays 2 p.m. starting Aug. 13. Classes will be held at the Deanburg Community Center. That sounds like a great thing for ladies or maybe some men would want to go.
I will sure miss doing the news, and I appreciate all the news people have given me the article over the past 16 years. Thank you so much for reading my Deanburg News. You have been very kind with your compliments!
It might be that I will come back, but for right now, I think this is the right decision!
God bless you all!

Hello from Enville! I hope you all are enjoying your week. It sure was hot last week, but by the weekend, the temperatures were a little cooler, and the humidity was down. I hope it will keep it up for this week. There is no rain in the seven day forecast.
Well, school is in session, and I hope all students and teachers are getting back to business. This first week is probably hard; going to bed and rising early will take some getting used to. Everyone will be learning where their classes are and how to get from place to place. Hopefully, they will have it by the end of the week. I am praying for a great year for all.
Our Enville Wild Goose Shindig is inching closer. It will be from 4-9 p.m. Aug. 24. There will be barbecue pork, chicken, bologna, hamburgers and hotdogs, a cakewalk, silent auction, entertainment and a 50/50 drawing. Come out and support our Enville Volunteer Fire Department and Community Club!
Happy birthday wishes go to Dylan Johnston on Aug. 12 and Lee Ann O’Neal on Aug. 14. Happy anniversary to Mark and Anita Needler on Aug. 13. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for Agnes and Robert Smith, Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Emily Freeman, Robert and Linda Johnson, Mary Lee Guyon, Anita Needler, Bonnie Johnson, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Doyle and Shirley Bishop, Janice Massengill Strickland, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Jeff Finley, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Mike Frank, Glenn Butts, Justin Godsey, Mike Finley, Lee Trice, all those who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
To rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 731-688-5125 or 731-315-8062, or if you have news, call me at 608-3058.
Wishing everyone a blessed week!

Thanks to all the Veterans that came to our Budget Meeting on July 29 to speak on saving our local Veterans Office. There was a request from one commissioner that wanted that office completely cut out of Chester County in order to pass our budget. It was not the budget committee that tried to make this happen. The budget committee had no intention of cutting that office. Our local governmental meetings are in need of more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county and come out and show your interest.
Our Election Commission could use some volunteers to work the November election for this year, and it will require some training. We are requesting anyone with interest to call the Election Commission office at 989-4039. We are just looking for ways to help with budget cuts for our County. Non-paid workers will help with this matter. I encourage everyone to get out and vote. Chester County residents need to show what they stand for.
Thanks to all that made our Big Country Breakfast and Bake Sale a success! We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining and they are due for this year currently. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Lee Trice and Carrie Stewart on Aug. 9, Kurt Larson on Aug. 10, Jesse Blake Emerson on Aug. 11, Mason Anthony Cooper on Aug. 12, Linda Essary on Aug. 13 and Edith Sills on Aug. 14. Montezuma sends out Happy Anniversary wishes to Mike and Sandra Lott on Aug. 8.
We need to pray for students, staff and teachers as they get ready to dive into another year of learning. It is definitely time for Americans to wake up and realize that VIOLENCE is not the answer to our issues. Americans should be getting on their knees more and repenting and requesting God’s help in any and all decisions that are being made in our lives. Imagine how wonderful life would be if people were more respectable toward each other and our country. I do believe that Christians should definitely speak out by standing up for their beliefs. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please be in prayer for our local and federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Mike Lott, Shirley Nelson, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Carolyn Higgins, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Norma Sue Kitchen, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Paul Parchman, Beverly Hilton, Christine Harris and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857.
As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The temperature Sunday was 90 degrees with a feel like temperature of 96. The skies were a beautiful light blue with white clouds. The forecast for this week is calling for heat and very little chance of rain.
We continue to enjoy our birds and occasional squirrels. Sometimes at night, James says there is a possum, cat or skunk around. We use another door if there is a skunk. I hope everyone stays hydrated. Drink plenty of water and rest at intervals. Also, be sure to give fresh cool water to outside pets especially. If you walk your dogs, be aware of the hot walks or streets. It can burn their paws. Shade also helps.
We grew up watching Shirley Temple and Tarzan. We stream on Roku now, and I just happened to find probably all of Shirley’s movies on there. I am watching “The Little Princess” now. It is colorized. We enjoy streaming, and it also saves money.
Our schools will have started by the time the paper comes out. I wish all students and faculty a safe, enjoyable year. Learn as much as you can and DO NOT base your intelligence on anyone else’s. We all are gifted with different things. Love yourself and accept yourself for who you are. The older you get and the longer you live, you will find there is freedom with aging to a degree. I still try to look my best and take care of myself, but I do not think much of what others think anymore. I do not worry about what others are doing. There is enough going on in life without trying to make yourself or someone else miserable. Enjoy life, it is actually short, and before you know it, you will be older and remember this. Life is a short journey, although it does not seem that way at times.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.

“When a flashlight grows dim or quits working, you don’t throw it away; you change the batteries. When a person messes up and finds themselves in a dark place, do you cast them aside? Of course not, you help them change their batteries! Some need AA…Attention and Affection; some need AAA…Attention, Affection and Acceptance; some need C..Compassion; some need D…Direction. And if they still don’t seem to shine…simply sit with them quietly and share your light.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
