Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a great holiday week. The weather is really nice. Hopefully, it held out for all the barbeques, fireworks, get-togethers and other activities that were going on for the Fourth. I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday!
Mark your calendars for Aug. 24. The Enville Volunteer Fire Department and Enville Community Club will have their annual Enville Wild Goose Shindig. There will be barbeque pork, chicken and bologna, hamburgers and hotdogs, a cakewalk, a silent auction and music. Come out and enjoy the fellowship.

Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!! Thank you, Lord, for another month and a new day, one that we have never seen before. I hope you have a great week and that you enjoy your Fourth of July. For my husband and I, July 3 is a very special day for us. This is the day the Lord blessed us with our fourth child, LaWanna. She was born July 3, 1987. Her birthday is a blessing to us because this is another year the Lord has allowed her to be with us. LaWanna is a cancer survivor! She goes every year for her checkups, and every time she goes to the doctor, it is a good report! Many of you may remember when I shared with you she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure on Dec. 25, 2021. Yes, our LaWanna has had some hard days, but on this day, she is doing great! Her heart is strong, and the Lord is blessing her. This young lady is a blessing, and her faith in the Lord is phenomenal! She will be 37 years old this year. To God be the Glory! My family and I will always give the Lord praise for healing her body, and we will enjoy the time we have together as a family. I hope you take the time to tell your family how much you love them because tomorrow may never come. I will let you know how much fun we had on her birthday.
July has arrived! The month of July marks the midway point of the year. It is also considered a month of fun! Here are a few things you can celebrate. For those of you who love their fur babies and have a cat, July 10 is National Kitten Day, so celebrate those cute and cuddly little balls of energy and love. If you are a crier and love to cry, July 10 is also International Town Criers Day; for those who have cows (like us), Cow Appreciation Day is on July 11!
This week will be a very busy week for SWHRA Head Start department. July 1 was the first day back for the Assistant Managers, Area Managers, Site Managers and Family Case Managers from their six week break. They are taking applications for three- and four-year-old children for the 2024-25 school year. Child must be three or four years old by 8/15/2024. For more information, call 989-5192 or 989-5111.
There is a couple who will be married 32 years on July 9. I know him as “Larry,” but you may know him as Henry Brown. He is a bus driver for the Chester County school system and has been for many years. Thank you for picking up our children for school and returning them back home to us safely! Jackie Brown is his lovely wife. The City of Henderson would like to say, “Happy Anniversary!” We pray the Lord will bless you with many more. As I always say, “Keep the honey in the moon!”
Last Wednesday at VBS, one of the church members informed me that one of our dear friends, Mr. Clarence Harris, had passed away. Mr. Harris was one of the pioneers of Henderson. He was the first black man to have his own moving business. I can remember when he had his son helping him. He was a hardworking man, and he took care of his family. Some of you may remember him coming to your home, delivering or picking up something for you. Our condolences go to his children – Linda Harris, Ethel Croom, Phyllis Smith, Clarence Harris, Bobby Harris – his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other family members. The City of Henderson loves you, and we are praying for you!
Please pray for the family of the little four-year-old child who drowned in Indian Creek in Hardin County. I do not know the family, but I just know the family needs prayer. When you pray, please pray for the following families: the Croom family, the Harris family, the Atkin family, the Walker family, the Stackens family, the Biden family, the Trump family and so many others! Continue to pray for the sick and shut-in, our children, our teachers, our country, our soldiers, our police officers, and anyone you know that needs prayer.

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The temperature Saturday was 92 degrees, but it felt like 104 degrees at 12:30 p.m. The sky was blue with beautiful white clouds, and there was no breeze. We are getting tomatoes and cucumbers now. The grass is growing fast with this heat, and we could have mowed Saturday, but the weather forecast called for cooler temperatures Monday. I suppose that will be our day. We hope to go to the movies Tuesday during the day to see Horizon, the new Kevin Costner movie. It is three hours long. We gave blood last Thursday. It was my second time and no problem. I avoided it all this time because I was afraid it would hurt, but it was fine. We went to the Lifeline building in North Jackson.
We will be in the month of July when you read this. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable July 4 celebration. It is the designation of our 13 colonies legal separation from Great Britain. Thomas Jefferson largely wrote the Declaration of Independence in isolation over 17 days between June 11, 1776 and June 28, 1776. A remarkable coincidence, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both who served as presidents of the United States, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration. James Monroe, another president, died on July 4, 1831.
