Competitive game ends in walk off

A walk-off left Chester County Eagles on the wrong end of a 5-3 defeat to Jackson South Side Hawks on Monday. The game was tied at three in the bottom of the eighth when Wyatt Diffee homered to center field, scoring two runs.
The Eagles lost despite out-hitting the Hawks seven to five. Dean Estes and Brooks Johnson each collected two hits for the Eagles.
A single by Caleb Cole following a 6-pitch at-bat put Chester County on the board in the top of the first.
South Side jumped into the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Diffee doubled, scoring one run, and Brantt Anthony singled, scoring two runs.
Ethan Burks singled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped Chester County tie the game at three in the top of the sixth.
Trent Stewart earned the win for South Side. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Estes took the loss for the Eagles. The right-handed pitcher went seven and one-third innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking three. Miller Hornsby stepped on the hill first for the Hawks. The pitcher allowed five hits and one run over four innings, striking out none and walking three.
Burks, the number nine hitter for the Eagles, led the way with two runs batted in.
Diffee drove the middle of the lineup, leading South Side with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-3 on the day.
