The Chester County Commission met in regular session Monday, March 16, at the Chester County Courthouse, with 16 present. Commissioners Todd Lewis and Luke Weaver were absent.
The Commission approved budget amendments, discussed the recent audit and approved purchase of a fire truck.
A Community Development Block Grant of $512,195 was recently awarded to the county toward the purchase of a $575,000 fire truck with 18% matching funds ($92,195). After administration and grant application expenses, this left $488,000 toward the cost of the $575,000 truck (for a difference of $87,000). A total of $179,195 (matching funds plus cost over grant amount) was approved in a 10-6 roll call vote with the following voting against the expense: Kevin Faulkner, Jerry King, Andrea Holland, Nathan Ward, Ann Moore and Mike Alexander. Fire department personnel later stated this approval will allow the department to purchase an already available truck this year as opposed to waiting for a lengthy production order coupled with rising production costs.
In response to audit findings of Accounting Deficiencies, an action plan has been prepared regarding statement reconciliation. The plan states the office is working toward reconciling all accounts accurately with monthly accounting records to be closed in a timely manner. With help from the Chester County Schools bookkeeper, the office hopes to have completed the goal by end of fiscal year 2026. A motion by Budget Committee Recommendation was approved unanimously.
Other approvals included the Buyboard Purchasing Cooperative Resolution, PCA Purchasing Cooperative Resolution and notaries, all unanimous.
