
David Stuart Morris, 60, of Henderson passed away March 2, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial followed at New Friendship Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
He was born in Henderson, Sept. 4, 1962, the son of Wanda Glen Matlock Dotson and the late Charles Glen Morris. He grew up in Henderson and was a 1981 graduate of Chester County High School.
He married his high school sweetheart Nancy Owens on Aug. 14, 1981, and they made their home in Henderson.
He worked for several years as a carpenter then joined the TN National Guard in 1984 and served for nine years. He then went to Bruce Lumber Co. in Jackson and worked seven years. He then worked for Lyondellbasell Manufacturing in Jackson where he worked for over 20 years retiring in 2015. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved his church community and helped anyone he could.
Above all things he loved his family and was a faithful husband, father and grandfather. He also loved his pets and treated them with love like children. He leaves behind his two dogs Lulu and Leo and two grand dogs Yadi and Toe Joe. He also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, woodworking and doing yard work. He also loved to eat and enjoyed having his family over for meals.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Morris; mother, Wanda Dotson of Jackson; son, Stephen (Rachel) Morris of Pinson,; two daughters, Stephanie (Carl) Morris of Henderson and McKinnley (Cody) Tignor of Luray; two brothers, Greg (Karen) Morris of Jackson and Donald (Phyllis) Morris of Lexington; sister, Stacey Davis of Henderson; and two grandchildren, Caleb “Toot” Tignor and Jacob Vest.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Glenn Morris.
