Pictured above is the second school building built in Deanburg. The first Deanburg School was probably built in the 1850s. It was a wooden, two-story building and was used until March 11, 1923, when a tornado swept through during the night, destroying the school and several other buildings and homes. The children then attended school at Bethel Church until a new school could be built, which happened in either 1924 or 1925. These were the only two school buildings Deanburg ever had. The second building was burnt by the fire department in the 1980s. The picture was taken by Janice Harris Julian who loved the school as did all who attended.
