Downtown fire guts restaurant

The Henderson Fire Department responded to a structure fire on East Main Street Friday, May 30, around 9:30 p.m.
It took only three minutes for fire trucks to arrive. It was determined that the restaurant at 103 W. Main St., Shaker’s Grab & Go, was fully engulfed with smoke and flames bellowing from the building.
Fire fighters were quickly able to dowse the flames, limiting damage to the interior of the restaurant and the roof. One firefighter sustained minor injuries.
The adjoining building, Merle Norman Cosmetics and Gifts suffered no damage.
According to a social media post, the owners of the restaurant, which had only been open a couple of weeks stated they intended to reopen the restaurant but were unsure of the time frame.
No cause of the fire has been determined, the incident is still under investigation.
