The Eagles were the superior bird on the field this past week compared to the Cardinals for both the Chester County High School Eagles Baseball team and CCHS Softball team.
The CCHS Eagles competed against them last Thursday on Freed-Hardeman’s turf and won 9-4.
Adamsville scored a run in the first inning and Chester County responded with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Once the third inning came around, Adamsville still had not scored more runs, while the Eagles managed to get five runners home in the bottom of the third.
Then the Eagles scored two more runs in the fifth.
At that point the Cardinals tried to come back in top of the sixth and scored two runs to make the score 9-3, but the Eagles did not score in the bottom of the sixth.
Nonetheless, the Eagles defeated the Cardinals 9-4 after the top of the seventh.
CCHS Eagles pitcher, Hunter McLemore, before being relieved by pitcher McKinley Hopkins, pitched a game of 16 strikeouts.
The Eaglettes proved themselves on the field, too, when they traveled to Adamsville on Monday, March 27.
At first, the Eaglettes started off losing in the first two innings 1-0 before tying it in top of the third.
Adamsville was able to score two runs in the bottom of the third though, so CCHS was down 3-1.
Chester County then kicked it into high gear in the fourth inning and scored five runs to make the score 6-3.
Later on, the Eaglettes put themselves in great position as they ended the top of the sixth 11-3.
Adamsville was able to get a run in the bottom of the sixth.
After not scoring anymore runs in the top of the seventh, the Eaglettes did what they had to do to win the game. Adamsville scored three more runs, but the Eaglettes still came out on top 11-7 at the end of the game.
A highlight of the game was a double-play between Jena Melton, Heather McMahan and Charlotte Canaday that occurred three different times. Each time the ball was hit to Melton. Melton tossed it to McMahan for the forced out at second and McMahan threw it to Canaday for the out at first base.
