Eagles drop first game back after weather layoff

Posted

After a two-week layoff caused by ice and snow that shut down schools, the Chester County Eagles returned to action Saturday night but came up short in a 52–40 loss to Hardin County.
Chester County came out with good energy and looked comfortable early, taking a 14–9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles continued to battle in the second quarter, but Hardin County began to find its rhythm and took a narrow 20–16 lead into halftime.
The game shifted quickly coming out of the break. Several turnovers in the first two minutes of the third quarter led to easy layups for Hardin County, allowing them to stretch the lead to 38–23. From there, Chester County was playing catch-up the rest of the night.
To their credit, the Eagles didn’t fold. They continued to compete and cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter, but Hardin County controlled the pace and closed out the win.
Jaden Williams led Chester County with 22 points. Jaden Weaver and Lane Estes added 6 points each.
The Eagles were scheduled to close out their home schedule Tuesday night against Lexington before hitting the road for a trip to North Side on Thursday. Chester County will then travel to South Side on Saturday as they gear up for district tournament play next week.
