The Chester County Eagles traveled to Alamo on Friday night for a Region matchup against the Crockett County Cavaliers. The Eagles struggled to find early momentum, falling behind 14–0 after the first quarter and trailing 27–0 at halftime. Crockett County extended its lead to 34–0 by the end of the third quarter before Chester County broke through in the final period.
With 9:47 left to play, Izaiah Armstrong broke loose for a 13-yard rushing touchdown to get the Eagles on the board. Linkin Phillips added the extra point to make it 34–7. The Cavaliers scored again late in the game to seal a 41–7 win.
Chester County finished with 111 yards of total offense—74 rushing and 37 passing—while Crockett County racked up 405 total yards, including 374 on the ground. The Eagles moved the chains for eight first downs and converted three of nine third-down attempts.
A scary moment came in the second half when Heath Stewart suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit that went unpenalized. Stewart was treated by medical personnel and carted off the field as both teams and fans offered their support.
After the game, Head Coach Dewond Johnson reflected on his team’s effort, saying,
“Another tough loss to swallow, but we will swallow it and learn from it. We must keep fighting.”
The Eagles will close out the regular season this Friday night at home against North Side. The game will also serve as Senior Night, as Chester County honors its seniors for their hard work, leadership, and dedication to the program.
