A couple of big innings and a strong night on the mound were more than enough for Chester County on Monday.
The Eagles pulled away from Jackson South Side for an 8-2 win, using a steady approach at the plate and a dominant outing from Lane Estes to take control as the game went along.
After a quiet first inning, Chester County got things going in the second, stringing together hits to push across a pair of runs and grab the early lead. The Eagles didn’t let up from there, adding to it in the third and fourth before breaking things open with two more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Estes maintained a consistent performance throughout the night. The right-hander kept South Side off balance, piling up strikeouts and working out of the few tight spots he faced. He finished with 12 strikeouts, allowing just four hits and two runs over six-plus innings.
At the plate, Braylin Robison had a big night, going 3-for-4 and helping spark multiple rallies. Heath Stewart drove in three runs, coming through in key spots to keep the Eagles’ momentum going.
Jaden Weaver added a pair of hits and an RBI, while Elam Murphy chipped in with a hit and a run batted in. Chester County also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks and putting consistent pressure on South Side’s pitching staff.
South Side managed single runs in the third and seventh innings but could never string together enough offense to climb back into it.
Chester County’s defense held steady behind Estes and Canton Taylor came on in relief to close things out.
