The Chester County Junior High Eagles wasted no time putting points on the board Thursday night, rolling to a 60–8 victory over Selmer Middle School.
On the very first snap of the game, quarterback Lewis connected with Austin for a 62-yard pop pass touchdown. Clayton’s run on the 2-point try made it 8–0. Moments later, Austin struck again—this time on defense—picking off a Selmer pass and returning it 52 yards for a pick-six. Dickerson powered in the conversion run for a 16–0 lead.
After the Eagle defense forced a turnover on downs, Lewis and Austin hooked up again, this time for a 33-yard score. Dickerson’s run made it 24–0. Austin then grabbed his second interception of the night, setting up an 18-yard scoring run by Dickerson. Lewis hit Wilson for the conversion, pushing the lead to 32–0.
Morein recovered the ensuing kickoff, and the Eagles kept rolling. Clayton capped a 38-yard drive with a 1-yard plunge before Lewis again connected with Wilson for two points. By the end of the first quarter, Chester County led 40–0.
The fireworks continued in the second quarter when Williams broke free for a 48-yard touchdown run. Daniel added the conversion for a 48–0 score. Diaz closed the half with a short TD run, sending the Eagles into the break up 54–0.
With the JV squad taking over in the second half, Selmer managed its lone score with 10 seconds remaining, adding the conversion for an 8-point tally. Dickerson answered instantly, taking the kickoff to the end zone as time expired to set the final margin at 60–8.
Coach’s Corner
Head Coach Chad Hanna was pleased with the team’s performance:
“Defense really stepped up this week. They were much improved from last week’s performance, and we’ve made some adjustments to fit our scheme. Offense played with more confidence, and we were able to open the playbook more and get more players involved. Our JV guys played hard. We still have a lot of work to do, but it was nice to get them some experience. The next few games will be more of a test, but we hope to ride this momentum from last night.”
