Eagles wrap up summer 7-on-7 schedule with confidence and continued growth

The Chester County Eagles wrapped up their four-game summer 7-on-7 schedule before entering the TSSAA dead period, allowing head coach Dewond Johnson to evaluate his team’s progress heading into preseason practice.
Johnson said the biggest improvement throughout June came as players became more comfortable in Chester County’s new offensive system.
“The biggest growth has been with our players picking up on a new offense this summer,” Johnson said.
Throughout the month, the Eagles showed steady progress from one scrimmage to the next. After stressing consistency and maturity following an early summer outing against Riverside, Johnson saw the team respond with improved effort, communication, and execution during the final two scrimmages.
Now midway through the TSSAA dead period, the coaching staff hopes players continue preparing on their own before returning to the practice field.
“For the next two weeks, we have encouraged our players to find somewhere to work out and to hang out with one another,” Johnson said.
Johnson believes continuing to build chemistry away from the football field is just as important as physical preparation as the Eagles look toward the start of the 2026 season.
Several players also stood out during June with their development and consistency.
“Players who we feel have made major strides are Chase Daniels, Greyson Stewart and Isiah Armstrong,” Johnson said. “They all have made great progress in June.”
With the dead period nearing its end, the Eagles will soon return to campus to begin preparations for fall camp, looking to build on the progress made during a productive month of summer competition.
