The Chester County Eaglettes completed a dominant run through the district tournament last week, winning all three matches in straight sets and defeating Lexington in Friday’s championship match.
Chester County opened tournament play Monday with a commanding victory over Liberty. The Eaglettes allowed only 14 points across the entire match, winning 25-5, 25-7 and 25-2.
Jordyn Cobb led the attack with nine kills, while Deslynn Ingram added five. Leura Rowsey delivered 12 aces from the service line. Ella Murley recorded 13 assists and six digs.
The Eaglettes faced a much tougher challenge in Tuesday’s semifinal but earned another sweep, winning 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18. Cobb turned in an all-around performance with 13 kills and 17 digs, while Karsyn Knipper added 11 kills. Murley directed the offense with 28 assists. The championship match against Lexington was originally scheduled for Thursday night but was postponed following the tragic death of a Lexington player in a car accident. The match was rescheduled for Friday afternoon, and Chester County honored the player before competition began.
Once play started, the Eaglettes captured the district championship with a 25-21, 25-19 and 25-14 sweep of Lexington.
Murley finished the championship match with three aces, 20 assists and 16 digs. Cobb recorded 13 kills and 16 digs, while Knipper contributed three solo blocks and six kills. Parker added 15 digs to the defensive effort.
Several Eaglettes received postseason recognition following the tournament. Murley, Croom, Parker and Knipper were named to the regular-season All-District Team, while Cobb was selected as the District Player of the Year.
Croom and Amilli Eanes earned spots on the All-Tournament Team, and Knipper was named the District Tournament Most Valuable Player. Chester County Head Coach Emily Ellis was also recognized as the District Coach of the Year.
