Eaglettes drop two district contests

Chester County endured a difficult stretch of district play last week, falling at home to South Side before dropping a hard-fought contest Friday night against McNairy Central.
On Tuesday, South Side overwhelmed the Eaglettes 46–11. South Side jumped out early with an 18–3 first-quarter advantage and continued to control the pace throughout the night, leading 30–5 at halftime and 43–7 after three quarters. Chester County struggled offensively against South Side’s defensive pressure. Kloe Taylor led the Eaglettes with 6 points.
Friday night, Chester County showed improvement and competed for four quarters but ultimately fell 51–32 to McNairy Central.
McNairy Central took a 20–8 lead after the first quarter, but the Eaglettes responded in the second. Chester County cut into the deficit behind timely 3-pointers from Alexis Rivers and Leura Rowsey, pulling within three at halftime, 26–23.
McNairy Central regained momentum in the third quarter, extending the lead to 39–27, and maintained control in the final period to secure the win.
Kloe Taylor paced Chester County with 15 points. Savannah Williams added 7 points, while Rivers and Rowsey finished with 5 points apiece.
With the losses, Chester County moves to 1–18 overall and 1–2 in district play. The Eaglettes looked to regroup as they travelled to Hardin County on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and to Lexington on Friday, Jan. 23.
