Chester County’s Eaglettes closed the week on a high note Friday night, picking up their first win of the season with a 58–37 victory over North Side in the opening game of district play.
CC set the tone early, jumping out to a 20–3 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 36–11 advantage into halftime. The Eaglettes maintained control throughout the night, leading 46–28 after three quarters before finishing strong in the fourth.
Kloe Taylor led all scorers with 22 points, while Savannah Williams added 13 points. Makayla Bridges chipped in 8 points, providing a spark on both ends of the floor. Despite foul trouble — with 21 fouls called on CC compared to 18 on North Side — the Eaglettes leaned on their depth, getting key contributions from players coming off the bench.
Head Coach Lee Pipkin said the team’s mindset entering district play made the difference.
“We came out ready to play tonight. We talked about how starting district play is a ‘new season’ and starting tonight, we have a clean slate,” Pipkin said. “This whole season has been preparing for the beginning of district play.”
Pipkin credited her team’s growth and resilience, particularly after early foul trouble forced lineup changes.
“Since we got into foul trouble early, our players coming off the bench had to step up, and they all did a fantastic job,” she said. “I personally felt that Makayla Bridges had a breakout game and showed her athleticism and growth when Kloe Taylor had to sit out due to foul trouble.”
Earlier in the week, CC dropped a road contest at TCA, falling 62–21. The Eaglettes trailed 20–8 after the first quarter and 36–12 at halftime before TCA pulled away in the second half. Savannah Williams and Kloe Taylor led CC with 6 points each, while Alexis Rivers added 4 points.
Despite the earlier setback, Pipkin said the team continues to focus on improvement.
“Every single game we try to highlight positive growth and celebrate growth, but also identify our weaknesses and address them in practice,” she said. “We were really proud of how the girls showed confidence and played together throughout the entire game to finish strong.”
The Eaglettes will look to build on Friday’s momentum as district play continues.
