Mary Elizabeth Climer Mooney, 91, of Reagan passed away April 23, 2023 at her home.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Dwight Jones and Randy Hart officiating.
Burial followed at Center Hill Cemetery. The family received friends at East Main Chapel from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
She was born Oct. 22, 1931, in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Dexter Franklin and Gertha Barker Climer. She attended schools in Henderson County and was married to Eual Mooney on June 28, 1947. They lived in Chicago, Ill., for 12 years, returning to the Reagan area of Tennessee where they made their home.
She was a member of the Barren Springs Baptist Church in Reagan. She loved dogs and raised many of them. She loved to quilt and loved to have visitors whom she graciously welcomed into her home.
She is survived by two sons, Mike (Marilyn) Mooney of Reagan and Allen (Linda) Mooney of Huron; three daughters, Joyce Wade of Reagan, Carol Pruett of Lexington and Peggy Jennings of Reagan; 12 grandchildren, Bucky Wade, Dennis Wade, Lynn Mooney, Glynn Mooney, Misty Moore, Chris Pruett, Mark Pruett, Justin Bailey, April Greenway, Jason Mooney, Ashley Wise and Johnny Martin; 28 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Climer of Reagan; and two sisters, Martha Bell Phillips of Reagan and Velma Dean Alexander of Reagan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eual Edward Mooney in 2008; a son, Edd Neal Mooney; one son-in-law, Harold Wade; four brothers, Dan Climer, Clifford Climer, Ernest Climer and Paul Climer; two sisters, Hazel Ryan and Mammie Dell Essary; and a grandson, Joe Martin.
