Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a good week! When I wrote this column, we were expecting some severe storms on Monday and Tuesday with heavy rain. The weather man says we are still in a deficit for rain, so maybe this will catch us up. I pray everyone was safe in the storms. Most of the farmers in the area are finished planting. I hope that if you are not you will get done soon!
Mother’s Day is approaching fast. The Enville Volunteer Fire Department will have their annual barbecue and bake sale on Saturday, May 9, the day before Mother’s Day. They will have barbecue pork, chicken and bologna. They will also be taking orders for racks of ribs. To order ribs, contact a member of the Enville Volunteer Fire Department. This event starts at 10 a.m. until sold out. Get there early to ensure you get food. Be sure to get your Mother’s Day meal, so mom can enjoy her day out of the kitchen.
Decorations for the first Sunday in May in our area are Mt. Zion, O’Neal, Roby and Grove Springs. Be sure to decorate your loved ones’ graves and give your donation for the upkeep of the cemetery.
Happy birthday wishes go to Lucy Ashbrook on May 4. Happy anniversary to Harry and Connie Timmer on May 1, Wayne and Brenda Poupard on May 3 and JP and Easton Glover on May 4. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
We attended Milledgeville Heritage Day. The barbecue and bologna were delicious as were the sweet goodies from those who were set up. It was a great day for it. I think everyone enjoyed it!
The Enville Community Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7; it is always on the first Tuesday of each month, but with the election on May 5, it is moved for May. This is a potluck meal. Come join in and help make our community a better place to live!
Please pray for the family of Phyllis Finley and continue prayers for Harold Maness, Robert Smith, Robert Johnson, Tommy and Linda Wade, James Vinson, Harold and Carolyn Wright, Rick and Julie Ooley, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Nancy Philyaw, Joan Massey, Nita Middleton, Mike Finley, Chris Fletcher, all who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
If you have news, call me at 608-3058, or to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 244-1993.
