Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a great week. August is gone, and September has arrived! We have several holidays in September, but most of us are awaiting the first day of fall. I love fall colors and all the decorations. But first, we have Labor Day on Sept. 7. Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States that honors the American labor movement and the contributions of workers. The first Labor Day celebration was held on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882, in New York, organized by the Central Labor Union. President Grover Cleveland signed legislation on June 28, 1894, making Labor Day an official national holiday. It emerged during the Industrial Revolution to recognize the vital role of workers and advocate for better conditions, such as shorter hours (Wikipedia). For many people, the long three-day weekend marks the unofficial end of summer, and for some, the start of the school year! There will be lots of celebrations, such as parades, backyard barbecues, community parties, boating on the river or lake and camping. Retail stores have good sales going on for Labor Day. Whatever your family and friends do, I pray you will have fun and be safe!
Happy birthday wishes go to Steven Grisham on Sept. 4. (which was my mom’s birthday), Mason Weeks on Sept. 7, Karen Bishop on Sept. 8 and Jasper Weeks on Sept. 10. Happy anniversary to Jerry and Nancy Freeman on Sept. 8. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Congratulations to Izaiah Armstrong for being last week’s Player of the Week!
