Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a great week. Another month is on its way out to make room for July.
The Independence Day holiday is next Tuesday. July 4 has been a federal holiday in the U.S. since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson (www.history.com). Have a fun and safe July 4, everyone!
Summer is here and so are the hot and humid temperatures; by the time you read this, the temperatures will be over 100 with the heat index around 111. If you can, stay inside, but I know everyone can not, so please stay hydrated, take lots of breaks, wear hats and sleeves to protect your skin. If you feel dizzy or nauseated or your skin is clammy, go inside or under shade and cool down. Heat strokes are dangerous. Remember to drink lots of water or sports drink while working.
The Enville United Methodist Church said goodbye to their pastor and friend Brother Keith Carlson last Sunday. They had a wonderful luncheon after church to show their appreciation to him for the past two and a half years he was with them. This was a bitter/sweet time for all. They are sad to say goodbye but happy for him to advance in his ministry. He held several of our closest friends’ and families’ funerals while at Enville. The community will miss you, Brother Keith! They are happy to announce that Brother Robert Conder will be their new pastor. The church service will be at 10 a.m. each Sunday with Sunday school to follow at 11 a.m. If you do not have a church, please join them at Enville Methodist. Welcome Pastor Robert Conder!
