Estelle Butler Jones, 102, of Henderson, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Shawn Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at New Friendship Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9-11 a.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to New Friendship Baptist Church.
Born April 18, 1923, in Chester County, she was one of 13 children of the late Walter B. and Edna Holloway Butler. She worked on the family farm and later at Salant & Salant, and graduated from nursing school in 1955.
She married Hays Webb with whom she had a son, James. In 1948, she married M.C. Jones, and together, they raised their family in Chester County and Illinois before returning home to farm. They suffered the loss of their daughter, Janice Barbara, and M.C. preceded her in death in 2004.
A member of Eastern Star and New Friendship Baptist Church, she lived a long life centered on faith, family and country living. She enjoyed raising animals, gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her children, David (Dee) Jones, James Webb, Douglas (LaVon) Jones and Phyllis (Bill) Wood, all of Henderson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, J.T. (Jeanette) Butler and Gertrude (Victor) Corson.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter; and 10 siblings, Arthur, Maggie, Birdie, Wesley, Irene, Perry, Joe, Clara, Nell and Frank.
