Former business owner, J. C. COPELAND, dies – Jan. 1, 1940 – July 29, 2025

Johnny Clinton Copeland, 85, of Henderson passed away July 29, 2025, peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service was held on July 31 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel.
He was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Manila, Ark., the son of the late Paul Eugene Copeland and the late Elsie Turner Copeland Patterson. He was raised in Chester County and graduated in 1958 from Chester County High School.
He married Brenda Copeland, Feb. 1990. He was co-owner of C & C Mechanical Contractors for 30 years and owner of Copeland Construction doing residential construction over 25 years. He was very well known and respected in the construction industry in Jackson and surrounding areas.
He was a Charter Member of Grace Baptist Church in Pinson. He and Brenda found joy in the simple things – spending quiet moments together watching the birds flutter around their many feeders and birdbaths and cozying up with Hallmark movies that made them smile. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Dominos with his buddies at Sadie Lou’s.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Jackson Copeland of Henderson; two sons, Jeff (Melanie) Copeland of Hoover, Ala., and Jason (Laura) Copeland of Jackson; a stepson, Scott (Melissa) Laster of Henderson; one stepdaughter, Sheri (George) Pruitt of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Shanna (Joey) Alexander, Josh (Jessica) Laster, Chala (Kendal) Branyan, Jacob (Baileigh) Laster, Kaleigh Pruitt, Cameron Copeland and Reece Copeland; six great-grandchildren, Gunner Branyan, Annalise Laster, Adelinne Laster, Coen Laster, Axel Campbell and Colt Campbell; a brother, Wayne Copeland of Scottsboro, Ala.; and two sisters, Peggy Cearley of Henderson and Donna (Jeff) Weston of Winter Haven, Fla.
