Guy Norman Garner, 73, of Counce passed away April 12, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Savannah Chapel with Dr. Tony Wamble officiating.
Burial followed at White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick.
The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue, Henderson from 5-8 p.m. Monday and beginning at noon until 2 p.m. service time Tuesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Savannah.
He was born July 13, 1951, in Finger, the son of the late Will and Lois Wamble Garner. He grew up in Chester County and was a 1969 graduate of Chester County High School. He then attended Jackson State Community College.
He married Sherry Byrd on Jan. 23, 1982. They made their home in Henderson for 23 years and then Pickwick for the past 20 years. He worked as Park Manager at Chickasaw State Park in Henderson before transferring to Pickwick Landing State Park, retiring in 2016. He then worked part time for the U.S. Marshall Service.
He enjoyed hunting but LOVED golfing! He was Church of Christ. He was a people person, always enjoyed being with people and was compassionate and helping to those in need. He loved his wife and his sons, and his granddaughter Alyssa was the light of his life for the past 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ann Byrd Garner; two sons, Michael Casey Garner and Kevin Reid Garner, all of Counce; two grandchildren, Alyssa Garner and Bryson Moore; and a sister, Sheila (Larry) Fesmire of Newbern.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Kendall Star Garner.
