The Chester County Library held its Snakes and Pelts reading program on Tuesday, June 18. This program was in partnership with and hosted by Chickasaw State Park. Ranger Mary Katherine Walker brought a very special friend to show attendees. Hashi is an Eastern King snake, whose species is originally from and very common in Florida. Hashi is very friendly towards people and not venomous. Ranger Mary Katherine taught many different snake facts and answered questions from the audience. Before ending the program, each person in attendance was able to pet Hashi the snake. Photo by: Kara Crump, Independent
