Hello to everyone! Greetings from the City. For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. What about you? I am so glad to be an American and to have the freedom we have. Just being able to say, “Thank you, Lord,” is a blessing. Thank you, Lord, for the new month of June. Can you believe we are in our sixth month of 2025? WOW! June has some very important dates. Did you know that June is National Candy Month, National Dairy Month and National Iced Tea Month? Also, on June 1, 1796, Tennessee, also known as The Volunteer State, became the 16th state of the United States, and June 5 is World Environment Day. United States National Flag Day is Saturday, June 14, and the first official day of summer is June 20.
Father’s Day is on June 15. It celebrates the contributions that fathers and father figures make in their children’s lives. So often, dads do not get the same recognition as moms. I do understand; however, we have a lot of great fathers and father figures who take care of their families. Start planning something special now for Father’s Day on June 15. Remember that the Bible says in Ephesians 6:2-3, “Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” Like so many of you, I miss my Daddy and Mother so much. For those of you who still have your parents on earth, do all you can for them.
Well, so much has happened since the last time we were together. Last week, my husband and I were in Hot Springs, Ark. Our oldest daughter Maria from Washington, D.C., got married on 5/25/2020 on top of a mountain in Gatlinburg. I remember driving up that mountain; the roads were so narrow that you could literally look out the car and see over the mountain! I will never forget it! This year, they celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, and according to Google, the five-year mark, or the “Wood Anniversary,” signifies an important milestone, often symbolizing the strength of a relationship that has weathered time. The traditional gift associated with this anniversary (wood) represents a foundation that has been rooted over the first five years of marriage, much like a tree with deep roots. The city would like to say congratulations to Kamau and Maria. We pray you will have many more happy years together.
You know…you never know what a person is going through. The other day, I was in Walmart, buying a few items. There was this beautiful little lady and her husband in front of me in the line. I told her how beautiful she was. She said, “Pray for me because I have cancer!” We prayed there in Walmart! I believe the Lord healed her body! You never know what a person is going through by just looking at them! There are miracles still happening!
Our condolences go out to the Arnold family; Bobby will be missed but never forgotten! The city of Henderson is praying for your strength. I know what it is like when you lose a brother! Only the Lord can heal a broken heart.
To the family of Mrs. Emma Ross, our condolences go to you! Mrs. Emma lived to be 99 years young, which is a blessing! You are in our thoughts during this difficult time. We are praying for you. Services for Mrs. Ross will start at noon June 5 at Beech Springs Baptist Church, 675 St. Route 22A Jacks Creek, TN 38347.
Happy birthday to Susan Presson, 6/3; Letitia Roberson, 6/2; and Quincy Jones, 6/7. May the Lord bless all of you with many more.
Last but not least, our U.S.A. needs much prayer, so continue to pray for the people! Remember the men and women that are serving our country, the incarcerated and bereaved families everywhere.
Please be safe and stay protected. Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
