Hello to everyone! For this is a new day, a new week and a new month! Oh, how great it is to be here with you this week because this is the day the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it. Guess what, parents? Fall break starts Oct. 13 and ends Oct. 17 for Chester Co. I hope you have plans for the week so you and your child/children will enjoy the time off from school. Parents, please let your children know how much you love and appreciate them. They grow up so fast; enjoy them while you can. What breaks my heart the most is to hear a parent say, “I will be so glad when you grow up!” My grandmother, Zelma Bass, told me something a long time ago – enjoy your children while they are on your lap and you can see them because one day they will be on your heart and you will not be able to touch or see them.
Teachers, relax, put your feet up and enjoy this week off because you have earned it.
To the people of Henderson, we need to pray. I was born and raised here in Henderson. After serving my country for 21 years, my husband and I knew where we would spend the rest of our lives and raise our children. This is a loving and peaceful city. Let us pray that nothing will come in and change that! Pray for our National Guard that has been sent to other cities. Pray for their protection while they are following orders that were given to them in the line of duty with no pay!
I have some great news! Some of you may know that our daughter LaWanna was diagnosed with a congestive heart failure three years ago. At her most recent check-up, we learned that her heart is strong and that she is doing great! The doctor told her she can still run and play ball if she would like to. To God be the Glory! You know she is a miracle baby! Thank you for all your prayers!
Pastor Appreciation Day is Sunday, Oct. 12. This celebration happens in the month of October, which also happens to be Pastor Appreciation Month. The celebration of this day began with the idea to celebrate the contributions of Priests, Ministers, Reverends, and Pastors to the country, especially in the United States. So on Sunday, do something nice for your Pastor. Let him/her know how much you appreciate them.
The Greater Evangelical Ministry, 1609 Airport Road, Selmer, will celebrate their Pastor Apostle Frank Holiday, Sr.’s 28th Anniversary Service at 3 p.m. Oct. 19. Family and friends are invited. Please come out. For more information, call 608-6132.
Happy 35th Wedding  Anniversary to Pastor Marles and Sylvia Flowers. They will celebrate on Oct 10. Keep the honey in the moon, as I always say! We pray that you all will have many more years together! COVID tried to take you out five years ago, Pastor Marles, but the Lord said, “YOU SHALL NOT DIE!” To God be the Glory! Keep on preaching and teaching the Word of God!
Happy Birthday to Brenda DePriest, Deanna Getting and Kristen Cobb, 10/4; Carolyn Dancy, 10/5; Donna Moody and Jadesen Moody, 10/10; Melissa Hunt, 10/12; and Shanna Foster, 10/14. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more!
On the prayer list this week: Mrs. Ethel Croom, Ms. Linda Harris and the children while they are on fall break. Lord, protect them from any hurt and danger while they are out. Continue to pray for the United States of America. Please pray for everyone you know!
The city of Henderson would like to let the DePriest family know that we are praying for you for the loss of a husband, dad, uncle and brother. Mr. Dewey DePriest will be missed, but he will not be forgotten! Richard, you grew up here in Henderson. You are family, and so many of us know how much it hurts to lose a brother or a sister! One thing about it, we are in the hands of the Lord and so are our loved ones!
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.  If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text me at 608-6132 and leave the information.
Thought for today: God keeps no record of wrongs! He doesn’t have a file with your past in it. He’s not racking up fines for you to pay when you get to the gates of glory!!
HAVE A GREAT WEEK! LOVE YOU!
