Hello to everyone! It is a new day and a new week. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! The chill of fall is in the air. We have had some nice cool days. This is my favorite time of the year. I hope you had a wonderful week! For me and my household, this was one of the best weekends ever. Why? It was my birthday week! And because I just love being with my family! Yes, my husband planned a wonderful weekend to celebrate my birthday!
On Oct. 26, 1954, the Lord blessed me to be born to two of the most wonderful people in the universe! If someone were to ask me, “If you could choose your parents, who would it be?” My answer would be Mr. Parnell Brown and Mrs. Annie Clay Brown! Thank you, Daddy and Mother, for creating me! I am so proud to be me!
My husband had the family to meet at Red Lobster after church. I thank the Lord for my family; we laugh, we play, we have meals together, we talk, we disagree and we cry, and I love it! I also give the Lord the praise and the glory for allowing me to be 17 once again, just backwards! God is GOOD, and I feel GOOD! You already know LaWanna is still making sure we get our exercise in. Our children remind us we are not getting any younger, and we must keep moving and get our checkups. So please, to all of my family and friends, remember to go and get your check up!
This is a reminder for those of us who are 65 and older. Mark your calendar for the Medicare Open Enrollment Period for 2026. Medicare coverage started Oct. 15 and will last until Dec. 7, 2025. During this time, all Medicare recipients can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2026. Information on the 2026 plan is available. If you have question about Medicare call 1-888-758-1143 or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information.
Well, another month is on its way out, ending with Harvest Day and Halloween. These are fun times for children who can dress up in friendly costumes, enjoy parties and eat yummy treats. This is a great time to give out healthy snacks and focus on safety. The city of Henderson wants every child, teenager, young adult and adult to be safe. Please walk with a trusted adult and check all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them. Eat only store wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats made by strangers; have a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you. Remember to walk and do not run from house to house. Only visit well-lit houses. Never accept rides from strangers. Look both ways before crossing the street. Walk on sidewalks whenever possible or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe. Use some reflective tape on costumes and bags to help drivers see you. Remember to limit the amount of treats you eat, be safe and have FUN!
Speaking of fun, the fair was great! The entertainment, food, rides and meeting people was phenomenal! Thank you, Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce, for the West TN State Fair to be here in Henderson!
If you are planning on running in the election, here is some great information for all candidates! The Chester County Election Commission will host a Candidate Information Session from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the upstairs classroom of City Hall. Topics that will be discussed include the overall election process, ballot procedures, open positions and qualifications, petitions, required paperwork, key dates and relevant laws. All potential candidates and campaign workers are encouraged to attend this interactive workshop. For more information, contact the election office at 989-4039. Hope to see you there!
On the prayer list this week is my brother Henry Brown. He was in the hospital, but he is home now recovering. Also, pray for Bruce Long and continue to pray for the United States of America. Remember to pray the men and women that are serving our country, our police officers and everyone you know!
Thought for the day: “Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about and always be persistent and never give up hope!”
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me or text at 608-6132.
HAVE A BLESSED WEEK! LOVE YOU ALL!
