Hello to everyone! For this is a new month, new day and new week! Oh, how great it is to be here with you this week because this is the day the Lord has made, and I am glad about it! Well, we fell back with the time! How did you do with the time change? I am still getting used to it. I must admit – I am not a big fan of “falling back” or “springing forward.” However, I did hear this could be the last time changing the times here in Tennessee. I do not know how true it is. Time will tell!
November is here, and what a great month it is. November is American Diabetes Month and National Adoption Month, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day and we will celebrate Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov 27. This is a time when family, friends and loved ones can come together to give thanks for each other and enjoy a good meal.
The Chester County Democrats are having their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner tonight (Nov. 6) at 6:30 p.m. upstairs in City Hall. Please come and join us.
Do not forget the Veteran’s Day program beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, on the second floor of Henderson City Hall. This is a great program. Do not miss it. Hope to see you there!
There will be A Grateful Gathering/Community Thanksgiving dinner, sponsored by the Cool Springs Missionary Baptist Church, located at 306 Harmon Street, Henderson, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. All are welcome to dine with them! Carryout plates are available! For more information, contact Fonda Welch at 608-8801 or Brad Dancy at 731-803-5091.
Most of you may already know that effective Sept. 30 SWHRA no longer administers the TEFAP Commodity Program. For the following counties, Hardeman, Haywood, Madison and McNairy, you will need to contact Mid-South Food Bank at 901-527-0841 or Tennessee Department of Agriculture at 615-837-5103.
For Chester, Decatur, Hardin and Henderson, contact Second Harvest Food Bank at 615-329-3491 or Tennessee Department of Agriculture at 615-837-5103. This is your new distribution site. Please contact them for more information.
The City of Henderson would like to send out birthday blessings to everyone that had a birthday this week!
Please pray for our family over in the Philippines. Typhoon Kalmaegin hit the central Philippines, and our niece and daughter are from there. Please pray for all the families! We have not heard any word yet about their wellbeing! We trust in the Lord that all is well. Continue to pray for the United States of America!
Please pray for our daughter Glorina. She had surgery on the third of November and is in Jackson General Hospital recovering. Mr. Henry Brown is doing so much better after his surgery. He wants to say, “Thank you,” to everyone for the prayers, cards and phone calls. He loves you! Continue to pray for our loved ones that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families, for the men and women that are serving our country and also for the incarcerated.
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text me at 608-6132.
Thought for today: “Every day is a new opportunity to learn and grow. Embrace challenges and strive to be a little better than you were yesterday.”
HAVE A BLESSED WEEK! LOVE YOU!
