Greetings to the People of Chester County everywhere. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Well, the Lord has blessed you and me to see another new week. Each and every day, I am so thankful that the Lord is watching over us. As we pray, think of all who are having a hard time. It is only because of God’s grace and mercy that we make it through.
I can remember this time FOUR years ago our daughter LaWanna was wearing her life vest for her heart. Every day, her heart got stronger and stronger only by the healing power of the Lord. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” I want you to know our daughter is healed and doing wonderful. To God be the Glory! Someone reading this column knows what I am talking about, and if He did it for my daughter, He can do it for you! Have Faith and stand on the Word of God! Yes! I do get HAPPY when I think of the goodness of the Lord!
I really enjoyed reading the paper last week with all the information from the year of 2025 and the things that were accomplished.
Let us not forget about this coming Monday. On Monday, Jan. 19, most of us will enjoy the day off from work and school because of Dr. King. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. There will not be a big parade or a big celebration here in the City on that day; however, he walked tall in what he believed in. He is most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for fighting for racial equality for all people in the United States. His most famous address was the “I Have a Dream” speech during the march in Washington, DC for jobs and freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, in which he calls for an end to racism in the United States and called for civil and economic rights. He was an advocate of non-violent protest and became the youngest man to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Luther King was and is an important civil rights activist. He was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis. We must keep the dream alive because in the U.S.A. at this time we are living in a nightmare, and we cannot allow the “DREAM” to die. He dreamed of a nation where people are judged by character, not skin color, and where brotherhood prevails!
I am so sad to hear about a dear friend that so many of you know. To Amy Sue, Tami and the family of Ms. Marilyn Myhan, our condolences go out to you. Ms. Marilyn loved everybody! She was a Family Case Manger at Southwest HRA Head Start. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years. She was a strong woman; she fought a great battle in life, and she won! The City of Henderson will miss her, but we will never forget her because some of you reading this column had contact with her in some way. Maybe she taught you to line dance or maybe she had your child or grandchildren in Head Start.
Ms. Glenda Jewell is doing well after her fall and surgery. She will be celebrating her Birthday on Jan. 20. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! We pray the Lord bless you with many more.
On our prayer list this week: the Myhan family and Sylvia Gean Trice Brown; she was in the hospital with illness. Continue to pray for the Croom family. Ms. Ethel is doing well. Do not forget our children, our teachers and our families, the sick and shut in, our men and women that are serving our country and also the incarcerated.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
To the people of Henderson, remember to patronize our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
