Hello to my family and friends! How wonderful it is to be with you one more time. The Lord has allowed us to see one more day; with everything going on to God be the Glory! For this is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it!
This week, hug your family members and let them know how much you love them. Even though my parents and so many of my family have gone to paradise, I will always have the hugs they gave me and I gave them. I remember one of my friends said, “Your family loves to hug.” I said, “Yes, it is what we do because we are always glad to see each other!” So share a hug with someone you love today. If you are afraid to hug, give them a fist bump/dap. Please forgive me for not having a column for last week! I lost track of time. However, I am back this week!
The month of April is the time when the Cuckoo and Swallow arrive to let us know that spring is in the air. I am ready for the birds to start singing. April 1 is known as April Fools’ Day; it is celebrated by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April Fools. If you play a joke on your family or friends, please make sure that it is safe and that no one will get hurt. There is enough hurt and pain going on in the world now.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The City of Henderson would like to take this time to let the Carl Perkins Center here in Chester County and surrounding counties know how much we appreciate the hard work you do for the children and families for the prevention of child abuse. Thank you so much!
As you know, Good Friday is on April 3, and it is observed during Holy Week. Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. So many will have the day off. Please remember why you have time off. It is called Good Friday, and what happened on Good Friday? According to the Bible, Jesus was arrested, tried and sentenced to death by crucifixion. He was nailed to a cross and died. His death was for the sins of the world. Sunday is Easter Sunday, the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection! Please take time out this Sunday and go to a Church of your choice because Jesus, the King, has risen!
Congratulations to Mrs. Renee Croom! She was selected by her peers as Teacher of the Year at South Elementary in Jackson. I remember when Mrs. Croom was LaWanna’s teacher here in Chester County. She was a great teacher then and still is!! Keep up the great work! We love you!
The city is sending condolences to the Jones and Kirby family. I was so sad when I heard about Linda’s death. We all grew up together. I remember walking to school together. She was some years older than me and would share her candy with me. It is good to have great memories! To the family, the City of Henderson is praying for you! She may be gone, but she is not forgotten because she will live on in our hearts and memories!
Parents, get ready! Baseball and softball are in the air, and so is soccer. You know I enjoy watching these young athletes play. Some of the players I can remember when they started out in Dixie Youth, and now, they are in high school and getting ready to graduate in May! Time goes by so fast, so let us enjoy the moment.
Do not forget that the Chester County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Candidate Forum to be held on Thursday, April 2, at 6 p.m. in Henderson City Hall. Come and meet the candidates that are running to represent your county! Hope to see you there. Remember that Early Voting is April 15-30. If you have not registered to vote, voter registration deadline is April 6.
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to my wonderful nephew Desmond Ingram, Sr. on March 31. For the month of April, happy birthday to my dear friends Larry Day on April 2, Brooke Emerson on April 4 and Amy Edwards on April 9. May the Lord bless all of you on your special day!
On the prayer list this week is Glenn Swafford; he was in the hospital. Also, keep his wife Linda up in your prayers. We love you, Linda and Glenn! The Lord has you in His HANDS! Keep our United States in your prayers. Remember to pray for the sick and shut in, our children, teachers and families, the men and women that are serving our country and the incarcerated.
I want you to know that I spoke with Ethel Croom. God is so good, and she sounds so good and is doing amazing! This is a praise report! To God be the Glory! Prayer changes things!
Thought for today: “Tears are not weakness; they are proof our hearts are alive and passionate and able to touched!”
