Greetings, people of Chester County/City of Henderson everywhere! As this is a new week and a new day, I want to give thanks to the Lord for being with you one more time in your home, at your job or wherever you find time to read the paper. It is truly a wonderful thing to have a newspaper in our city. And yes, like I’ve always said: it’s not The New York Times, USA Today or The Washington Post. It is the Chester County Independent, and because of this small paper, we are connected and are part of each other’s day-to-day lives, right here in our community, and even beyond. Thank you for reading, and I am grateful to be sharing this column with you.
How was your week? I hope and pray it was a great one. It was a week of celebration for our mothers! Some of us have mothers that the Lord has called back to Him, and there are others that can touch, call, hug and kiss your mother at any time. Please enjoy your parents while you can because one day you will just have the memories.
I hope today is a good day for you as well. If you are having a bad day for whatever reason, just remember you have the power to turn it around to make it better because this is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! You and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and you!
The City would like to say congratulations to our Chester County High School Class of 2026! Just remember class of 2026, you do not have to be great at something to start, but you have to start to be great at something! The class of 2026 has shown that belief in themselves! You have made history, and the future is in your hands. Just remember – when all is lost, the future still stands and is waiting for you. City of Henderson, please pray for the protection of our young adult and teenagers as they travel down this road called life!
To the family and friends of Mrs. Janice McHaney Pirtle, we are saddened to hear about your recent loss of a loved one and a friend! I remember Janice so very well; she was a caregiver to so many and a faithful member to her church! She always had a smile on her face and something funny to say. Mrs. Pirtle will be missed but not forgotten. The City of Henderson sends our deepest condolences, and we are praying for you!
To the family and friends of Mr. Joe Pevahouse, please accept the City of Henderson’s condolences. Wishing you peace and comfort as you remember him. He will be missed but not forgotten. We are praying for you all!
Happy Birthday shout outs to everyone that had a birthday this week. It is a blessing, and we pray the Lord will bless all of you with many more.
Continue to pray for people that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families, for the men and women that are serving our country, for the U.S.A., for the incarcerated and for the bereaved families’ everywhere. As I leave you, please stay safe and stay protected.
Thought for today: Jesus understands change is hard. He understands you may not want it. He understands you may wish your circumstances were different. He knows. And He knows you! Remember “to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
