Greetings from the City. It is always a blessing to be with you every week. You already know why: one reason is that I love you, and the other reason is that this is the day the lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!
You may be reading this paper in your home, at work, in another state or overseas serving the country. Wherever you are, THANK YOU for taking the time to read about what is going on in Henderson TN/Chester County!
Last week was such a wonderful week! On Sunday, June 7, I had the privilege of attending the annual Women Veterans Day program sponsored by the Jackson-Madison Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the James Madison Chapter Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). All branches of service were recognized by name and received a Certificate from the DAR in recognition of Valor, Service and Sacrifice in service to our Nation. Ms. Jeanita Hicks is the DAR Chapter Regent. Each year, this great organization recognizes all the Women Veterans. All the Women Veterans won a door prize. The refreshments were very good as well! Thank you, Ms. Jeanita Hicks, for remembering the Women Veterans! Women Veterans Day is celebrated annually on June 12 across the U.S. Women Veterans Day honors the service and contributions of women in the U.S. military, marking the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act of 1948. To all the Women Veterans, thank you for your service!
Sunday, June 14, is Flag Day in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress. Flag Day is a day for honoring the flag and what it stands for. It is the symbol of our great nation. It has flown in good times and bad times. It has flown during peace time and war time. It is an enduring symbol of freedom. Do not forget the Flag Retirement Ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the north end of Gene Record Memorial Park, 600 N. Church Avenue, Henderson. Hope to see you there.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: God, perfecting ourselves is something we can never do. It only happens through You. When we’re tempted to forget that and try to be good enough, remind us of what You have already done and who we already are in You! Amen.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK LOVE YOU!
