Hello to everyone! It is a new day and a new week. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in! The chill of fall is in the air. We have had some nice, cool days. This is my favorite time of the year. I hope you had a wonderful week. For me and my household, this was one of the best weekends ever. Why? Because I just love being with my family! We laugh, we play, we have meals together, we talk, we disagree and we cry. My little LaWanna is still making sure we get our exercise in; our children remind us we are not getting any younger, and we must keep moving and get our checkups. She reminded me that I have a birthday coming soon, and I will be 69. Yes! I am going to get all of my checkups.
October is the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is a time to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. Remember to get your yearly check up.
I hope all of you on fall break are enjoying this recess because on Oct. 16 you will be returning with a new attitude (hopefully a good one!) and will start counting down the days to Thanksgiving.
Next Monday, Oct. 16, is Boss’s Day! Do something nice for your boss. It has traditionally been a day for employees to thank their bosses for being kind and fair throughout the year. If you have a boss like that, let them know how much you appreciate them.
I was reading my little devotion, and I want to share it with you. “Today we can freely ‘approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need’ Hebrews 4:16 NIV). This lets me know we do not have to be worrying about tomorrow, the Lord is going to take care of us today.”
This is a reminder for us who are 65 and older mark your calendar for the 2023 fall Medicare Open Enrollment Period for 2024 Medicare coverage. Open enrollment starts Oct. 15 and lasts until Dec. 7, 2023. During this time, all Medicare recipients can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2024. Information on the 2024 plan is available. You can call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information.
If you are in need for some clothes or you may know a family who needs some, Ms. Rebecca Morris has some just for you. She has pants, blouses, etc. Call her at 989-5860, and she will give you all of the details on where to come to get them. Please pray for Ms. Rebecca that the Lord will keep her body healthy and well.
On the prayer list this week: please pray for our sisters and brothers over in Israel; so many people have lost their loved ones. Continue to pray for the United States of America!
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you; call me or text at 608-6132.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
