Henderson Station Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution met at the Henderson church of Christ on Monday, Sept.15. Hostesses were Mary Ann Guinn and Christine Carroll.
The meeting was called to order by Regent Patsy Weatherington. Following a prayer lead by Vice Regent Katy Myers, the chapter participated in patriotic exercises led by Christine Carroll, which included the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag and pledge to the Tennessee flag and the reciting of the American’s Creed and the Preamble to the Constitution. A Constitution minute was given by Mary Ann Guinn.
Regent Weatherington reported on plans for our Constitution Week project. We adopted fifth grade at Adamsville Elementary school. Each student will be given a proclamation to encourage reading the Constitution, a proclamation with a simple wording explanation of what the Preamble means, bookmarks, Constitution Word Search Puzzles and candy in a napkin made envelope. After Constitution Week, each student will be given an Award Certificate for studying the Constitution and the Preamble.
After reports from chapter officers and committees, the meeting adjourned. Refreshments were enjoyed. The next meeting will be Nov. 18.
