Historic Bells Drive In burns

The City of Henderson Fire Department responded to a fire at Bell’s Drive in just before 4 a.m. Monday, April 7, at 204 S. Church Ave. The building was already fully engulfed in flames when the call went out at 3:37 a.m. and the department arrived on scene just four minutes later, at 3:41 a.m. A total of 18 firefighters responded, working to contain and extinguish the fire, successfully protecting the surrounding structures. The original Bells diner was built in 1954 and then rebuilt following a fire in 1964. Next week the Chester County Independent will pay tribute to the county’s favorite burger.
