The Jacks Creek Community Club met on Thursday, Sept. 10, with 22 members present. President Ralph Mays greeted all of the members and guests and introduced Troy Kilzer, Superintendent of the Chester County School System, as the guest speaker.
After enjoying a delicious meal that was furnished by club members, Mr. Kilzer brought the group up to date on what is happening in the system. He spoke very positively about the success the school system had on statewide tests with the top achievements. The school system exceeded the state average scores in every single subject area, which included English, Math, Social Studies and Science.
Mr. Kilzer then informed the group about updates in the school system. Club members then asked questions pertaining to different schools, and Mr. Kilzer answered all questions without hesitation. It was noted that beginning salary in Tennessee for teachers is $50,000, and Chester County adds $2,000 each.
