The Chester County Junior High Eagles opened up their basketball season on Thursday, Oct. 23, as both the girls’ and boys’ teams hosted Lexington. The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hang on down the stretch, falling 32–28 in a close game. The boys’ team also battled hard before coming up short, 33–25, in their season opener.
Both teams bounced back in a big way the following Monday, Oct. 27, when they traveled to Whiteville. The Lady Eagles put together a dominant performance on both ends of the floor, rolling to a 50–8 win. The boys followed suit with their own strong showing, defeating Whiteville 50–35 to pick up their first victory of the year.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Chester County was back at home to face Hardin County. The Lady Eagles stayed within striking distance most of the night but came up short, 34–23. The boys had a tougher go, struggling to find their rhythm on offense and falling 45–27.
Both teams will be back in action next week as they host Jackson Christian School (JCS) on Monday, Nov. 3, travel to Decatur County on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and head to Lexington on Thursday, Nov. 6.
