Jimmy O. Hatch, 86, of Morton, Ill., passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar with a one-hour prior visitation. Burial was in Little Hatchie Cemetery in Bethel Springs.
Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate). A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Morton, Ill.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1936 in McNairy County to Basil Manley and Pauline (Marcle) Hatch. He retired from Caterpillar, Inc., many years ago where he worked as a millright. He was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church in East Peoria, Ill., and a member of the Purdy Masonic Lodge in Bethel Springs.
He was a kind, gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to garden and was a master woodworker. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia M. Hatch; his daughters, Wanda (Trace) Pitzen and Vickie (Kim) Hinthorne; a stepson, Timothy (LaVon) Vales; one stepdaughter, Linda Dodd; three brothers, Paul Junior Hatch, Tony Hatch and Willie Hatch; a sister, Jeanette (Jeff) Thompson; five grandchildren, Joshua (Jennifer) Pitzen, Nicholas (Amy) Pitzen, Will Pitzen, Kortney Smith and Adam (Sami) Hinthorne; and six great-grandchildren, Juniper and Jasper Pitzen, Charlie Pitzen, Asher and Ewan Smith and Layney Hinthorne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his half-brother, Clelle Hatch; and a stepson, Michael Vales.
