Senior guard Kortland Martin was named to the Mid-South Conference Men’s Basketball First Team on Friday. The conference coaches voted on the awards at the conclusion of the regular season and coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
Martin is a 5’11 point guard from Humboldt, Tennessee, and played his high school basketball at Humboldt High School. Martin led the Lions in scoring this season averaging 20.5 points per game. Martin shot 88% from the free throw line and 40% from behind the arc.
Martin scored over 20 points in 17 of the Lions’ 31 games. He also scored 30 or more in 4 of those contests with his season-high being 33 in the opening round of the conference tournament against Bethel. Kortland set the new program scoring record in the same game.
This is Martin’s second consecutive season being elected to the Mid-South Conference First Team by the opposing coaches. Martin was previously named Third-Team All-Conference and First-Team All-Conference during his first two seasons as a Lion when FHU was a part of the AMC.
