Lady Eagles cap strong week with wins over Lexington, Haywood

Posted

The Chester County Lady Eagles had a week to remember, grinding out a rivalry win over Lexington on Tuesday before cruising past Haywood with a 9–0 shutout on Thursday.
Tuesday’s match with Lexington was a back-and-forth battle. Claudia Bailey scored the Lady Eagles’ only goal in regulation, and the defense kept the Lady Tigers from breaking through again. After two overtimes, the game went to penalty kicks, where Bailey, Ellie Kate Knoell, and Autumn Greene all found the back of the net. Keeper Abbie Green came up with big saves, while defender Kendall Cherry turned in a standout performance to help Chester County secure the win.
Head coach Michael Bolton called it a tough, physical game. “We had several shots and chances, but their goalie did a good job of keeping us out of the back of the net,” Bolton said. “Our defense played well and held them to one goal after 100 minutes. Abbie Green had some good saves in the shootout.”
Two nights later, the Lady Eagles carried that momentum into a dominant showing against Haywood. Miley Cupples recorded a hat trick, while Bailey and Addison Pratt each scored twice. Amelia Barr and Alyssa Jenkins added goals of their own to complete the offensive surge. On the defensive side, Emma Easley anchored the back line and helped secure the shutout.
Bolton said Thursday’s win showed the progress his team has made. “The girls played their most complete game last night against Haywood,” he said. “I’ve been challenging them to play a complete 80 minutes, and they rose up and met that challenge. Defense was strong and our offense put up nine goals.”
With two wins in three days, Chester County showed both grit and firepower. The Lady Eagles will look to maintain that momentum as they complete their remaining non-district schedule before turning their focus to the postseason.
