The Chester County High School volleyball team defended its home court in style this week, sweeping Liberty on Tuesday night before grinding out a four-set victory over McNairy on Thursday. Both matches counted toward district play, giving the Lady Eagles an important 2–0 week.
Against Liberty, Chester County wasted no time making a statement, rolling to set wins of 25–0, 25–5, and 25–8. Their serving and defense overwhelmed the Crusaders, with the rare 25–0 opening set showcasing the Lady Eagles’ sharp focus and execution. Head Coach Emily Ellis praised her team afterward. “I think we played a complete game and we were able to play like we know how to play. I’m proud of my girls and their continued effort,” Ellis said.
Two nights later, the Lady Eagles faced district rival McNairy in a much tougher contest. Chester County edged out the first two sets, 25–20 and 26–24, before dropping the third 23–25. They responded in the fourth, closing the match with a 25–19 win to secure their second district victory of the week.
Ellis credited her team’s resilience. “We played well the first two sets then kinda lost it in the third. The third set though we did fight back to close the gap. Then we came out swinging in the fourth set. Proud of our team,” she said.
With back-to-back district wins at home, Chester County not only strengthens its record but also builds confidence for the road ahead.
The Lady Eagles proved they can dominate when in rhythm and battle through adversity when tested — qualities that will serve them well as district play continues.
