Lady Lion Soccer falls to Cougars

The Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions are still on the hunt for their first victory of 2024 after falling to the Cougars of Indiana University Kokomo 2-0.
The Lady Lions (0-2-0) had a shot taken by Ellie Wood in the early part of the first half, but it was the Cougars who drew first blood at 18:50 with their first goal of the match. IUK kept the pressure mounted in the first frame by taking nine shots, but Ava Pierce stopped the one on goal to keep the score 1-0 after first half.
IU Kokomo (1-2-0) turned up the heat by firing six shots on goal in the back half. Pierce kept out five of those, with the Cougars adding their second goal at 61:09. The Lady Lions had a flurry of shots in the 80th minute, with FHU taking three shots, but the shots from Gabriella Albrecht and Ericka Montenegro being saved.
Montenegro and Wood shared the team’s high of two shots with Montenegro getting one on goal. Pierce ended the match with seven saves.
