Larry Wilford McNeil, 84, of Finger passed away Sept. 17, 2026, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Brad Garner officiating. Burial followed at Cave Springs Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon until 2 p.m. service time on Sunday.
He was born Nov. 12, 1941, in Finger and grew up in the Hickory Corner Community, the son of the late L.O. and Pauline Davidson McNeil. He attended Hickory Corner School.
He began working at a young age and worked for Brown Shoe Company for about 14 years then began working at General Electric in Selmer for about 35 years, as a welder. He was a lifetime farmer.
He married Glenda Smith in 1960, and they had two children together. He later married Pauline Oliver in 1983. She preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2023, after 40 years of marriage.
He was a member of the Little Hatchie Primitive Baptist Church. He read his Bible continually and knew it well. He loved fishing and farming. He was also very comical.
He is survived by a son, Tony (Connie) McNeil of Finger; stepchildren, Paula (Bobby) Ivy of Medon and Pam (Paul) Carle of Medon; seven grandchildren, Sarah Grace (Jordan) McCaskill, Andrew McNeil, Kristin (Michael) Sells McDaniel, Nicholas Sells, John (Teppie) Ivy, Josh (Amanda) Carle and Jason (Felicia) Carle; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Jo Ellen Garner of Finger; and one son-in-law, Jeff Sells of Mifflin. 
He was preceded in death his parents; his wife, Pauline Oliver McNeil (2023); a daughter, Rena Paulette Sells (2022); and one brother, Hugh Allen McNeil.
