Sydney Cherry, above right, took first place in two classes she entered at the Beef Expo, narrowly missing top prize of Grand Champion Hereford.
Chester County 4-H/FFA was well represented at the State Beef Expo in Lebanon in early July. This show is held annually in the summer for 4-H/FFA students from all across the state.
A total of 177 exhibitors showed 357 animals. During the two-day event competitors participated in showmanship, heifer and steer shows, along with some beef educational contests.
Bristol Cherry, representing Chester County 4-H, placed seventh out of 37 in junior showmanship and also placed second in her class with her favorite heifer. Sydney Cherry, representing Chester County 4-H and Chester County High School FFA, showed two heifers in the beef show. She won first place in both classes and barely missed out on having Grand Champion Hereford.
These girls did an outstanding job, and we are so proud of them and appreciate the hard work they have put in getting these heifers ready to show. Bristol and Sydney are off to the National Junior Hereford Show this week in Louisville, Ky.
