The Chester County Library proved to be one of the most exciting hot spots for family fun this summer! The summer program kicked off May 30, 2026. Entitled “Unearth A Story,” the dinosaur-themed program wrapped up its last event late July 2026.
The multi-month event gave children ages 0-12 the opportunity to purchase prizes and featured at least 32 additional events for all ages to attend. While younger children received points for glamorous prizes at the end of the summer, youth ages thirteen and over joined the fun and entered the drawings for the Chester County Chamber Bucks! Children in the reading program logged their books/audiobooks into ReadSquared, a local website the library used to track how many books each participant read. Each book logged gave the corresponding child points, which they could eventually exchange for cool prizes July 22-23!
Overall, the program had 191 participants across all ages. Over 3,248 books were logged into ReadSquared. Approximately 1,000 people attended events throughout the summer to show support for the library.
One event in particular was the kids’ art contest. This event gave a variety of young, inspired artists the opportunity to show off their artistic skills! Participants were told to create an original artwork featuring the program’s theme: dinosaurs. Visitors in the library voted for their top favorite artwork by placing money in the selected artist’s jar. The library announced the contest winners on July 27: Elijah Halton won preK-first, Margo Endres won second - fifth, Brilynn Heart won sixth - eighth, and Natalie French won the ninth-12 grade division. With so many contestants, the art contest gave library patrons the opportunity to view local artists’ artistic talents
