WordWeavers of Chester County invites local writers to submit short stories for inclusion in its second collection of short stories, available by Christmas 2025. Entitled “Will There Be Cake,” current members are readying their stories for this collection. Henderson and Chester County writers are invited to submit their work.
With an Aug. 31 deadline, any local writer has time to write and submit their short stories for the book.
The rules and guidelines for this anthology are as follows:
At minimum, each story must include the word “cake.” Writers 13 and up may submit short stories for this collection. Multiple submissions (maximum three) are allowed and encouraged.
Deadline for submissions is Aug. 31, 2025.
Each contributor to the published collection will receive a copy of the book. Additional copies will be available at Amazon.com.
WordWeavers reserves the right to proofread and edit stories for spelling, grammar and consistency.

“WordWeavers is excited to provide this opportunity for local writers to show their creativity and be published in this latest anthology. We hope local writers will submit short stories and join WordWeavers to learn more about writing,” said WordWeavers president, Algene Steele.
For two decades WordWeavers has met each month with readers and writers in the community, to discuss and engage in the art of writing and to promote and encourage literacy. Meetings provide a chance for local authors to update attendees about their projects and learn more about some aspects of the writing process. Past topics have included character development, self-publishing, and giving/receiving critique.
WordWeavers meets every second Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the public library. Writers are encouraged and welcomed to attend.
WordWeavers is focused on adding new members to the group. A survey is available at the library to serve as an introduction.
