
Margie Barnett Hatchett, 93, went to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Columbia, on May 23, 2023. Her family was by her side. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson - Crook Avenue Chapel with burial to follow in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from noon-2 p.m. service time at Crook Avenue Chapel. The family would like to thank Caris Hospice for their excellent care. She was born on Feb. 12, 1930, in Lexington, Ala., to Audie Lee and Minnie Fields Barnett. She married Emmett Edsel Hatchett in 1950, and they were married for 61 years at the time of his passing on Feb. 3, 2012. She was a member of the Henderson church of Christ for many years and attended Ladies Bible Class. She also served on the Advisory Board at Freed-Hardeman University.
She is survived by four children, Dennis (Libby) Hatchett of Duluth, Ga., Randy (Sherry) Hatchett of Madison, Ron (Stephanie) Hatchett of Nashville and Jan (Brian) King of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Hatchett, and one brother, Delton Barnett.
